Our last playgroup this month was a FUN one.

momstown Newmarket and Aurora celebrated construction once again with...

Cookies!!!

 

The children LOVE decorating cookies especially when they are shaped into bulldozers, dump trucks and tools.  There were, hammers, saws and even a wrench to decorate.

Although our little ladies enjoy decorating the construction cookies I did make some flower shaped ones for them too.

YORK REGION POLICE DAY

Constable Bob from the York Region Police visited our playgroup today.  He spoke to our momstown Newmarket and Aurora children about safety and his role in our community.  The children had plenty of questions for the officer and were very excited to see him.

The lucky children were able to check out his police cruiser too!

Some enjoyed pretending to be Constable Bob, while others, just enjoined the rest of the cruiser.

The best part would have to be when Constable Bod, turned on the lights and siren for the children.  We did cover our hears but there were smile all around.

Chalk Party turns into pool party!

One of our GREAT momstown Newmarket and Aurora moms, opened her house to us for a chalk party.  The children had fun decorating her driveway until they discovered all the wonderful toys in the backyard, so our chalk party turned into a backyard party!

Some of the children enjoyed the water table.

  Other's enjoyed the snacks.

 While the others just had a FUN time with their friends.

Children's Book Club

We started a Outdoor Children's Book Club this month.  Scholastic Canada has generously offered to sponsor our book club for the next few months, donating one book to read and one to give away to a lucky child every month!

Our June focus was on construction and the book donated this by Scholastic Canada was;

Hot Rod Hamster By Cynthia Lord, Illustrations by Derek Anderson

We gathered at All Our Kids Play park to explore their giant sand area with our construction vehicles and read books followed by a craft in the park.  

 Since it was the day before Father's Day, the children made another Father's day craft for dad.  We cut our poems for dad, and added a hand print along with some colouring too.

Our Father's Day Playgroup

Each month we celebrate different events with our momstown members.  In June we celebrate Father's Day.  Our momstown Newmarket and Aurora children LOVE craft time, and were so excited to be making something for dad! 

With some help from mom, we made Tie Cards for their father at our weekly playgroup.  We took card stock and organic wrapping paper for the ties, and decorated them with markers, sticker and some stamping. 

The dads loved their cards!

Our momstown family Picnic

momstown Newmarket and Aurora gathered in Newmarket for our first annual family picnic.  There were fun and games for everyone.  We had more then 20 families turn out even though it was calling for rain.

 Good eats!

The moms had a Shoe Kick contest.

The children ran races.

While the dads attempted our baby fun run.

The weather held out just in time for us to finish our lunch and go home for nap time.

momstown's Construction Zone

June is momstown's construction month and the children had fun discovering tools and machines. 

At our first playgroup we had colourful tires and used tiny pasta and glue to fill the dump truck.

Take a look!

The following week we used paint, potatoes and cookie cutters to stamp around at craft time.  You gotta LOVE the messy fun!
