momstown Christmas Pot Luck Lunch

This week, we gathered at Diane's home for our momstown Christmas Pot Luck Lunch.  We all made something to share with the group, always nut free!

We read books (Thanks Dawn!) and sang Christmas songs,

 exchanged Christmas cards and had some yummy food too!

This was a nice ending to our Christmas events before our Holidays with our families.

momstown Gingerbread men decorating

Who loves to use candy and icing to decorate GingerBread men???

momstown Newmarket-Aurora does!!!

This was our last 2011 play group, so we decided to treat the children with a fun gingerbread decorating day at playgroup!

Using nut free gingerbread men, the children used red, green and white icing and YUMMY candy and had FUN together.   

The kids had a fun, but I had a hard time trying to take photos of their gingerbread men...they kept eating them!

I did manage to convince a couple to let me take a quick photo.

momstown Newmarket-Aurora's Christmas Party

On Tues December 20th, 2011 momstown Newmarket-Aurora gathered at The Funnery Play Park and Cafe in Newmarket for our Annual Christmas Party!

Thanks to Julia and Angela from The Funnery, our momstown members had a wonderful time!

Santa visited us at 6:30 for photos and to hand out gifts to all the "GOOD" momstown Newmarket-Aurora children!

The children had a wonderful time playing with all their friends at The Funnery, plus we had pizza dinner too!

Everyone went home with gifts, even the little ones who did NOT want to sit on Santa's lap.

momstown's "K" is for Kite!

Our weekly Alphabet playgroup continues with the letter "K".

The momstown Newmarket-Aurora children used to letter "K" to make kites!

We used all different colours of construction paper, and a template for the letter "K", then we cut, glued everything together.  

This was a really simple craft for the kids.

We also have some playtime, read some books or do a alphabet activity together too.

momstown's Children's Book Club and Alphabet playgroup

With the busy Holiday Season among us, this week we combined our Alphabet Playgroup with our Children's Book Club.  

Each month, Scholastic Canada donates books to each of our 16 momstown chapters.  December's book was a perfect fit!

It is a wonderful story detailing "a Canadian 12 Days of Christmas"  which is sure to make any Canadian smile!

Diane, one of our Newmarket-Aurora momstown moms, was lucky enough to be this month's WINNER and took home a brand new copy!  Congrats!

"J" is for...

JELLY BEAN!!!

We discovered the letter "J" this week, and I think it is a new favourite among the children!  We used JELLY BEANS in our craft today, but of course, more went in the mouth then on the paper! 

Next week, we are looking at the letter "K"

I think I see some Kites in our future!

More momstown N-A reindeer crafts!

Playgroup always starts with free play time, then we have circle time.  

We used instruments and sang Christmas songs together before we had snacks and craft time.

This week we made our own personal momstown N-A reindeer ornaments for our Christmas tree!

We glued together Popsicle sticks addes a red pompom for the nose and used ribbons and extras to add the special touch!

momstown's Festive Special

Our momstown Newmarket-Aurora moms gathered at Swiss Chalet in Newmarket for our annual Festive Special!

This year, we decided to host our "Mommy Secret Santa" tonight too!  

The food was yummy, and playing the "gift switch" game, where we could "steal" someone elses gift, was so much FUN, we all had a great time!

It's nice to get out with just the moms!

Next week we are hosting our Christmas Party, that one will be just for the children!  Santa will be there, and we are ordering pizza for dinner, plus we are holding it at The Funnery Play Park and Cafe in Newmarket, so the children can play together too!

momstown Mom's Craft Night in Decmeber

One of our favourite "mom" events for momstown Newmarket-Aurora, is our craft night!

This week, still focusing on the Holidays, we gathered at Amanda's home and made these cute Holiday Card Clips.

The moms used clothes pins and their favourite ribbons for this craft, and they turned out awesome!

momstown N-A on the Steven and Chris show!!!

Our LUCKY momstown Newmarket-Aurora moms traveled to the CBC building to attend a filming of The Steven and Chris Holiday show!  The 12 of us sat in the front rows and were on camera all the time, and why not, we're a great looking bunch!

We also got a group shot with the handsome couple!

We took home some AWESOME gifts and would like to personally thank Richard for the tickets and the gifts wonderful from Swarovski and OLYMPUS!

momstown N-A reindeer crafts!

December is for "Reindeer" here at momstown Newmarket-Aurora!

This week, at our playgroup, we traced our little hands and used construction paper to make cute reindeer together.  

Next week brings a new reindeer craft so check back to see what we create!

Don't forget, each week we also have playtime, when the children interact with one another, and learn to share and co-operate!  Plus, there are always "nut free" snacks and juice to go around.

momstown discovers "I" is for Insects!

Our momstown Newmarket-Aurora alphabet playgroup discovered 

"I" is for Insects today!

 

Using a letter "I" template, we used stamp pads and our little fingers to make tiny insect prints and added arms, legs and antennas to make different looking insects.

We decorated the letter "I" with all different kinds of insects, from sparkly and shiny, to sticky and gluey plus we had fun colouring too. 

Next week we are discovering the letter "J" is for Jelly Beans!

momstown visits the Santa Claus Express

This Holiday Season, momstown Newmarket-Aurora visited Tottenham and took a ride on the Santa Claus Express!

The South Simcoe Railway departs daily, with round trips taking approximately 50 minutes, and travels along an old rail line in Tottenham Ontario.

Santa walks through the passenger cars with his elves and visits with each child, who goes home with a candy cane and a smile!

 Adam and Jillian had a great time too!

 

We had a FUN!  All that was missing was the Hot Chocolate!
