Alphabet Play: The letter "U"

This was a tough one!  The first word that came to mind was umbrella, but I wanted to use the letter U in the craft, so we discovered "U" is for Uncle!

Our momstown Newmarket-Aurora mom Diane hosted for us again.
The children coloured the letter "U" along with eyebrows, eyes, a nose and a mustache too.

Then the cut out and glued all the pieces to make the face of their uncle!

They did a wonderful job, but you can always tell, who had some "mom" help!

Discovering Our Senses Together

This March's Art and Play program, had our momstown Newmarket-Aurora families discovering our senses together!

We gathered different materials, some hard, soft, rough and smooth and glued them on our craft paper.
The children felt how different all the items felt, and had fun gluing!

Next month we will discover "Baby Animals" together!
I hope you will join us!

Stiletto's & Sneakers Newmarket show

Stilettos & Sneakers:  A Lifestyle Show for Women
Fabulous, Fun…and Free!

It’s a day that brings girlfriends together, gives moms a day of rest or introduces the new girl in town to all of the resources available to her in her own backyard.  In just 10 days, Stilettos & Sneakers is returning to Newmarket.  The event will take place Saturday, March 24th from 10am-3pm at the Newmarket Community Centre.

Take a look at some of the things you can expect during this FREE event:
-Over 30+ vendors…all businesses and organizations that offer something for women in the Newmarket area.
- Activities and demos will take place throughout the day…get a henna tattoo, have your makeup done or try your hand at Zumba!
-Place your bids at our Purse Auction!  New and gently used purses will be auctioned and sold at the event.  100% of the proceeds from our silent auction and sale will go to the Ontario Breast Screening Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre.
-You can also stop by our “Glam Cam” to have your picture taken on our giant Stiletto chair.  Our boas, tiaras and funky glasses will force you to give in to your inner diva…all for a great cause!  Photo zone donations will also go to the OBSP Program at Southlake, as well.
-Swag bags for the first 300 women...a handy carryall for the information and treats you will receive at the show.
-Fill out a door prize ballot for a chance to win a makeover (valued at $300) courtesy of Yellow Orange Salon & Spa in Aurora!

2012 marks the 4th annual Georgina show (Sept. 15) and the 2nd Newmarket show.  We have also added Stouffville (Sept. 15) and Bradford (Oct TBA) to the line-up!  Hundreds of women have come to each show (over 540 at our last in Georgina), a true testament to the kind of event this is and how badly women are in need of a “me” day!  To date, our Stiletto shows have raised over $4-thousand for the Ontario Breast Screening Program at Southlake!

National Breakfast Day with Kellogg's

Share your Breakfast!
It's the MOST Important Meal of the Day

Did you know 1 in 10 Canadian children (637,000) live in poverty and
are at risk of starting their day on an empty stomach?

Kellogg's believes that a better breakfast leads to a better day, where great things can happen.  Mom's also believe in the "power" of breakfast and together, we can spread the word and make a difference!

On March 8th, 2012, National Breakfast Day, Kellogg's held "Share Your Breakfast" events across Canada in an effort to promote awareness.

Our lucky momstown Newmarket-Aurora chapter, participated along with other momstown chapters and hosted awesome breakfast events in an effort to distributed hundreds of Kellogg's "Breakfast Kits" to local families.
Each kit, contained a box of cereal, a bowl, napkin and a spoon, everything you need to start your day with a good breakfast.

momstown Newmarket-Aurora and momstown Georgina joined forces yesterday and hosted our "Share Your Breakfast" event at The Funnery in Newmarket.

There were over 50 families who attended and enjoyed a Kellogg's cereal breakfast together.

The Children enjoyed the FUN cereal craft and burned off some energy playing at the indoor playground.

Some children enjoyed eating the cereal over doing the craft.

Did you miss National Breakfast Day?
Don't worry, here is how you can still help!

Look for the specially marked boxes of Kellogg's cereals.
For every participating box of Kellogg’s* cereal purchased, a donation will be made to Canada’s two largest breakfast charities, up to a maximum of $50,000.

Take part in the Share Your Breakfast movement on National Breakfast Day and throughout the month of July and join us as we help hungry children shine.

        Thank you for your support!

Our lovely momstown Newmarket-Aurora mom, Diane hosted this week's Alphabet Play at her home in Newmarket.

We couldn't decide if "S" was for Stars or Shells, so we did both!

Kellogg's Share Your Breakfast

momstown wants to help Kellogg’s give back to the Newmarket-Aurora community. At this event, members will receive breakfast kits and learn how we can share our breakfast.
In Canada, 1 in 10 children live in poverty, and are at risk of starting their day on an empty stomach. On March 8th, National Breakfast Day, Kellogg’s will be distributing mini-packs of Rice Krispies cereal nationwide, to raise awareness and reach out to children in the community.
Kellogg’s will also be donating to Breakfast Clubs of Canada and Breakfast for Learning. You can help by purchasing Kellogg’s cereals – every box equals a donation!
Join us for Share Your Breakfast – we’ll have activities for the kids, circle time, crafts, and a great way to help your community.
